463 Making Tiki Babies With Sweet Sweet Exotica
/Aloooooooooha! and welcome to the Zen Tiki Lounge. The bar is full this time. Sunshine, Kalani, Neighbor Julio and Neighbor Nicole are on board for a new cocktail, some shots and a new rum to taste. Plus, some great conversation about saving water, a Tiki Caliente update and what songs get you in the mood?
The Waimea Blossom. Waimea Blossom is a cocktail, not a tiki drink. In every tiki bar you tend to find a drink or two that patrons enjoy and request despite a lack of over the top garnish or the missing tiki mug. Tart cherry juice, fresh lemon and two rums are mixed with cinnamon and black walnut. If that sounds like a rum soaked cherry pie, you’re right. Click the pick for the recipe.
Kalani happened across this rum from Trader Joes. TJ’s has been hit or miss with their limited time rums, but this one is worth the purchase. Similar to Plantation OG Dark, it is sweet to taste with some notes of Jamaican funk and a little cocoa. Good for sipping or mixing. We just nabbed a few bottles on 1/22/23. These don’t tend to last too long so grab one quick if you want to try this.
The crew of Zen Tiki Lounge has attended Tiki Caliente for the past 13 years, missing only the inaugural. Four days of great tiki style cocktails, Hawaiian shirts, muumuus, live music, plenty of pool time and ROOM PARTIES. This event will sell out quickly once wristbands are released February 4th at 10am. If you want join the fun, be sure to visit TikiCaliente.com early on Feb 4th. Listen to this episode of the podcast for more details.
Whats our theme for this years room party? We have two strong contenders as of now. Either “Disenchanted Tiki Room” or “Adult Fantasy Island”
