Mother of Pearl

Sweet, tart, creamy and balanced.  Mother of Pearl is one of those rare cocktails that includes both butter and cream as well as a touch of honey.  Dark rums and mezcal add the complexity you will notice but may not be able to pick out without reading the ingredient list. 

1 ounce Pango Rhum Barbancourt

3/4 ounce Plantation Dark Rum

1/2 ounce Silver Mezcal

1/2 ounce lime juice

1/2 ounce lemon juice

2 ounces Tropical juice blend (any combination of pineapple, mango, passion, banana, lychee etc.)

1/2 ounce Honey Cream Mix (Don's recipe)*

Mix all ingredients together in a shaker with ice and shake very well.  Strain into a fancy glass filled with crushed ice.  Garnish with mint and sprinkles.  Make this drink festive with whatever color cupcake or donut sprinkles you may have.  

*Dons Honey Cream Mix originally used the following recipe:

1/4 cup melter butter

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup cream (half and half)

Combine in a sauce pan on low heat and stir until fully incorporated.  Do not allow to boil, warm just enough to combine and create an even mixture.  Store in a glass container and use in cocktails or coffee.
